How FirstListen works
FirstListen is an app that puts music from independent artists in front of the industry people looking for it. It launches in fall 2026 across Canada and the US. Here is how it works, from your first upload to your first conversation.
Build your profile
Sign up, confirm your email and choose your side: artist or industry. Artists add a name, location, genres, a cover image and a short bio, so the people listening know who they are hearing.
Share three tracks
Each artist shares three full tracks of up to 10 minutes each. Rough demos, voice memos and finished masters all work: a good listener can hear potential at any stage. Our track tips cover formats and presentation.
Your tracks go into a randomized feed
A&R reps, labels, producers, managers, agents and music supervisors listen at their own pace. The feed is randomized, with no rankings, no boosts and no paid placement. Each track is shown on its own, so if one is passed over, your other tracks still get their own listen.
Interest comes to you
When a track catches someone's ear, they swipe to show interest. You see who it is and decide whether to accept.
Ten messages to start the conversation
An accepted interest becomes a match, and a match opens a conversation of ten messages shared between both sides: enough to find out whether there is something real. Where it goes from there is up to you.
Your music stays yours
Uploading does not transfer ownership: your work remains your property and cannot be used without your authorization. We take no cut, commission or royalty from anything that comes out of a connection.
